Job description

The Director of Sales assists the Vice President of Sales & Marketing with the efficient management of the Sales Department by providing daily leadership and direction to the Sales Team; ensuring targets are met and all opportunities are maximized.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Provide personalized and exceptional guest service at every given opportunity.
  • Provides leadership and direction to the Sales Coordinators and Sales Managers.
  • Responsible for the total revenue target for all group bookings including Tour & Travel, Social, Government, Association, Corporate and Third party. Responsible for all wedding and off site winery partners targets.
  • Reviews all proposals on a weekly basis to ensure accuracy and adequate follow up.
  • Responsible to monitor daily prospecting numbers and to react accordingly to ensure targets are met; reporting results to VP of Sales & Marketing weekly.
  • Assists the Vice-President of Sales & Marketing with the development of the annual sales plan.
  • Responsible for working closely with and supporting the sales team in all areas.
  • Ensures Sales Managers are scheduling sales calls on a regular basis and accompanies at least one Manager per week on their sales call.
  • Shadows wedding sales managers periodically.
  • Ensures each Sales Manager is conducting one site visit per week.
  • Conducts monthly prospecting sessions.
  • Organizes seasonal client gifting and drop offs.
  • Organizes one client event per year for top clients.
  • Conducts quarterly sales meetings.
  • Grows the off-site catering business.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Experience, Characteristics and Core Competencies

  • Graduate from a Sales & Marketing degree program or the equivalent in experience and education.
  • Minimum five (5) years experience at a management level in sales at a four-diamond property.
  • High-energy, outgoing, decisive, intelligent manager who is motivated and passionate about the hotel industry.
  • Determined, hands-on, with an attention to detail, and thrives in a fluid environment.
  • Goal-oriented, driven individual with a superior ability to execute and achieve results.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Possess the interpersonal and leadership skills needed to interact with peers and motivate their team.
  • Proven track record managing sales teams.
