Job description

We are casting for a feature-length drama that explores the intricate bond between two sisters—one in her late 20s to early 30s, and the other in her late 30s to early 40s—where the older sister has taken on a parental role in their relationship. The film focuses on naturalism and verisimilitude, blending scripted dialogue with improvisation to create deeply personal and authentic storytelling.

Roles Available

  1. Younger Sister – Chloe (Late 20s to Early 30s)
A woman navigating adulthood while grappling with her relationship with her older sister, who often took on a parental role after one parent died and the other abandoned them.
Must be open to bringing elements of their own life and personality into the character.
Improvisation skills are encouraged to help craft raw, naturalistic moments.
Seeking an actor with depth, emotional vulnerability, and the ability to balance light and serious tones.
  2. Older Sister – Claire (Late 30s to Early 40s)
The elder sibling who took on a parental role after life circumstances placed that responsibility on her.
Balances maternal instincts with the challenges of maintaining a sibling dynamic.
Should bring warmth and complexity to the role, with the ability to explore the nuances of both love and frustration in sibling relationships.
Must be comfortable drawing from personal experiences and collaborating on improvisation.

About the Film

This is a deeply personal drama that delves into the complexities of sibling relationships, the lasting impact of family dynamics, and the struggles of navigating shared histories. The director is inspired by filmmakers such as Kelly Reichardt and Hong Sangsoo, aiming to capture the honesty of everyday interactions. The film will rely on the actors’ ability to create natural, unscripted moments alongside the scripted material.

What We’re Looking For

  1. Authenticity: Actors who can draw from their own lives and bring their personal truths to the characters.
  2. Improvisation Skills: Some scenes will evolve naturally, requiring flexibility and spontaneity.
  3. Collaborative Spirit: A desire to work closely with the director and fellow cast members to build a shared, authentic narrative.
  4. Emotional Range: The ability to portray subtle, complex emotions as well as intense dramatic moments.

Since this is as much about what you bring to the role over any sort of reading or memorizing lines, the first meeting will be done over zoom. Please send resume and headshot. Lesser-experienced actors are encouraged to apply, since this is a film based around naturalism and what you bring. After the two leads are cast, other roles will be posted and cast.
