Fort McMurray Catholic Schools is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Education Technology Consultant. The successful candidate will play a key role in the effective use of technology to support instruction in the school division and the implementation of new initiatives to support the Education Plan. The consultant will lead and facilitate a range of professional learning initiatives that will support classroom teachers and division/school leadership teams. The ideal candidate is a masterful teacher who has demonstrated a deep understanding of how to analyze curriculum in order to develop innovative and effective learning experiences for students. They are focused on designing learning experiences that use technology to reduce learning barriers and support all students across a wide range of abilities. This individual has a keen sense of research-informed best practices related to the use of technology to support student learning and a proven track record of applying these practices to their craft. As well, the individual has experience in leading and coaching effective teams. This person has strong interpersonal skills, is a dynamic and engaging public speaker, is highly organized, and is a self-motivated individual who seeks opportunities to take initiative while managing multiple tasks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education and eligible for an Alberta Teacher Certification;
  • At least 3 years of classroom teaching experience in the K-12 environment;
  • Completion of or current enrollment in a Master of Education program with a focus on education technology, curriculum, instruction, assessment, and/or leadership is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators to integrate technology into teaching and learning.
  • Provide training, coaching, and professional development for staff on educational technology tools and digital learning strategies.
  • Support the implementation of the school division's digital learning initiatives.
  • Research and recommend emerging technologies that enhance student engagement and achievement.
  • Assist with the selection, deployment, and evaluation of digital tools, software, and learning platforms.
  • Support the integration/implementation of technology to meet the diverse needs of students with mild to severe/targeted special needs.
  • Collaborate with educators/support teams to implement assistive technology to ensure an inclusive learning environment.
  • Develop and maintain instructional resources to support educators in using technology effectively.
  • Troubleshoot and provide support for classroom technology issues in collaboration with IT staff.
  • Ensure compliance with digital safety, privacy, and accessibility policies in education.
  • Support other division-based and school-based professional learning initiatives.
