Journeyman Carpenter / Fence & Deck Builder

GCS is looking for a Journeyman Carpenter / Fence & Deck Builder to work in their carpentry division. The ideal candidate would possess a strong work ethic and have experience building decks, fences, privacy screens, pergolas, and a general knowledge of all aspects of framing and outdoor carpentry.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Construct decks, fences, pergolas and concrete formwork for projects in the Edmonton area.
2. Read and understand landscape plans.
3. Confident in measuring and using tape measures, levels, and angle finders.
4. Ability to use power tools such as saws, drills, grinders, etc.
5. Building pressure treated, cedar and composite/PVC decks, stairs, fences, privacy screens, pergolas, benches, gates, etc.
6. Ability to work autonomously with minimal direction.
7. Work diligently toward building and maintaining a high level of quality.
8. Follow and enforce company policies for all on-site personnel.

REQUIREMENTS

1. Minimum 3 years carpentry experience.
2. Motivated, hard-working, punctual.
3. Valid driver's license and clean abstract.
4. Physically fit.
5. Strong time management skills.
6. High attention to detail and very customer service-oriented.
7. Familiar with the maintenance and use of various woodworking tools i.e., table saw, mitre saw, circular saw, drills, etc.
8. Gas powered tool maintenance and operation.
9. Safe truck and trailer loading and operation.
10. Able to handle basic carpentry tasks (i.e., fence construction, basic deck framing, post setting).
11. General understanding of construction procedures.
12. Safety conscious.
13. Organized and good with documentation.

SAFETY CERTIFICATIONS

1. CSTS 2020 (with WHMIS 2015).
2. Intermediate First Aid.
