At Suncor, as the Specialist Process Engineer, you will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and recommending solutions to medium/long-term issues for facilities optimization in the oil, gas, and water streams on the Terra Nova FPSO. In this role, you will support the day-to-day Operations for complex processes relating to troubleshooting and production optimization as supplemental Process Engineering support to the Integrated Operations Center (IOC). You will support development and reporting implementation of Terra Nova Operating Envelopes and performance monitoring strategies.
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree in Engineering and Professional Engineering designation
- Minimum 5 years related experience in the petro-chemical/oil and gas business
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in process engineering, troubleshooting, debottle-necking, process modeling
- Strong understanding of oil and gas production system processes and economics
- Knowledge and experience in environmental, safety and loss prevention process and practices
- Demonstrated knowledge of industry practices, standards, rules and regulations
- Computer fluent in HYSYS process modeling tool or other process modeling tool
Responsibilities:- Provide technical support on process/production issues as required to Terra Nova Offshore team
- Provide support to Operations and Production Engineering team to assist in troubleshooting and optimization of production volumes
- Maintain Terra Nova FPSO process discipline documents and drawings (PFDs and P&IDs)
- Carry out sensitivity and optimization studies utilizing Process Simulation tools such as HYSYS Process to determine best operating strategy and inherent flexibility in the plant design
- Provide technical support and input to project teams on process/production issues, including project design reviews, technical specifications, and equipment selection
- Review plant shutdowns with instrument and control systems engineers to ensure system performance (e.g., blowdown pressures, depressurization, ETC.).
- Support Regulatory and Certifying Authority queries/observations
- Resolve production/process related Technical Queries (TECHs)
- Develop Change Requests, Lead and support Management of Change ensuring adherence to the MOC process
Location and other key details:- You will work out of our St. John’s office, located at 130 Kelsey Drive
- Typical working hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; however, support to operations will be required outside of regular business hours
- Qualified residents of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador will be given first consideration in the staffing of this position
