The Shadbolt in your Community Arts program satellites programs from the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts into the community, providing opportunities for patrons to sample fine arts programs at a more accessible cost. These programs are inclusive, supporting freedom of expression, giving students an experience of working with Fine Art specialists in an environment which promotes creativity.
Are you passionate about visual arts and enjoy teaching a variety of ages? If so, Shadbolt in your Community is looking for qualified and experienced Contract Visual Arts Instructors to plan, organize and facilitate visual arts classes for ages 4-16 (separated by age group). Duties include providing class outlines and curriculum goals that are appropriate for the age groups. Shadbolt in your Community’s Visual arts instructors will teach a variety of art programs at facilities across Burnaby and Elementary Schools.
Students will vary in age based on the type of class being taught, but will primarily be children and youth (ages 4-18).
Examples of key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Qualifications include completion of a university or college level visual arts program (BFA). A strong teaching background and experience teaching visual arts to a variety of age groups from children to teens is required. High Five certification is considered an asset. Experience teaching Ceramics is an asset as well, but not necessary. Successful candidates must have Emergency Level First Aid- CPR C or be willing to obtain certification prior to the start of the program.
We are currently hiring for our instructor sub pool and Spring programming. This position could work at any site within the City of Burnaby.
We are looking for availability for Afterschool times and possible weekends; please note these are contract positions, and hours are based on registration.

Hourly wage: $35.00 - $43.00 + 4% in lieu of benefits
