What You Will Do

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the Director – Systems Integration directs and coordinates all activities of the Systems Integration Division effectively and efficiently. Ensures TTC requirements to operate LRT vehicles, provide security and revenue control, and staff stations to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction are provided for in the implementation of the Metrolinx Rapid Transit Program. The position is responsible for supporting the development of the TTC operating requirements in consultation with Operations, Service Delivery, Strategy and Customer experience to provide a seamless operating and customer experience, and ensuring these requirements are implemented in the Metrolinx multi-year, multi-billion dollar Rapid Transit Program. Interfaces with Metrolinx staff and contractors for all phases of the project which include planning, design, commissioning, and operation and maintenance. The position provides day-to-day engineering support to staff and operational support, as required; oversees and coordinates all aspects of work related to the functional design, construction, testing and commissioning of systems and infrastructures, support safety assurance of the systems and vehicles to ensure a seamless network for TTC as the operator, as well as for TTC customers for Metrolinx Rapid Transit and Subway Expansion Programs. What Skills Do You Bring?

  • Exercise superior analytical and problem-solving abilities to ensure TTC operating requirements are provided for in the implementation of the Metrolinx Rapid Transit and Subway Expansion Programs.
  • Sound understanding of TTC safety and operational requirements, and TTC Design Standards.
  • Plan, allocate and manage resources within budget and schedule constraints in a multi-discipline environment.
  • Interpret information from a variety of sources and channels to oversee the work, motivate and influence internal and external teams engaged in varied activities.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

  • A University Degree in Engineering or similar discipline, combined with extensive related experience in the rail and public transit sector managing and leading technical and operating staff.
  • Proven experience in the delivery of rail systems and infrastructure projects.
  • Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario is mandatory.
  • Registration as a Project Management Professional with Project Management Institute is an asset.
  • Comprehensive, in-depth knowledge of operations, maintenance, systems and components as related to bus, subway and LRT operations.
  • Broad knowledge of engineering principles, methods and practices as they relate to systems and facilities design, construction and project planning/management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of business administration, fiscal concepts, human resources policies and legislation/regulations regarding safety, human rights, employment, etc.
  • Working knowledge of the Metrolinx Rapid Transit and Subway Expansion Programs.
  • Proficiency in the use of PC based operating and integrated office programs, including Microsoft applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook), scheduling, as well as sound knowledge of software typically used for electrical and subway/railway and surface communications design analysis and calculations.
