We are seeking a motivated Millwright Apprentice to join our maintenance team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop their mechanical skills while gaining hands-on experience in an industrial or mining environment. Under the guidance of experienced journeyperson millwrights, the apprentice will assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of machinery and equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Area 1:
Preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.
Conduct routine inspections and lubrication of equipment to prevent breakdowns.
Assist in diagnosing mechanical issues, including vibration analysis, misalignment, and wear detection.
Support the development and execution of preventive maintenance schedules.
Area 2:
Equipment installation and maintenance.
Assist in the installation, alignment, and setup of mechanical equipment, including pumps, motors, conveyors, crushers, and processing machinery.
Support the disassembly, inspection, and reassembly of components for maintenance and repair.
Learn to use precision measurement tools to ensure proper equipment alignment and functionality.
Assist in documenting maintenance work, repairs, and inspections in maintenance logs.
Area 3:
Safety and compliance.
Follow all site safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), personal protective equipment (PPE) use, and hazard identification.
Participate in safety meetings and adhere to company policies and regulations.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure proper handling and storage of tools and equipment.
Area 4:
Learning & development.
Participate in structured on-the-job training and technical coursework required for apprenticeship progression.
Work towards completing the required hours and training for millwright certification.
Actively participate in mentorship and training opportunities provided by senior millwrights.
Stay up to date with industry best practices and new technologies.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, FORMAL EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS OR EQUIVALENTS
Enrolled in or eligible for a Millwright Apprenticeship Program.
High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or college courses in mechanical maintenance are an asset.
WORK EXPERIENCE - NATURE & LENGTH
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including working at heights or in confined spaces.
Basic understanding of hand and power tools used in mechanical maintenance.
