This position will report to our EnerSys Energy Systems business, which serves the telecom, cable broadband, industrial, renewable, and data center markets. Our portfolio combines our stored energy expertise with power systems, enclosures, and renewable energy products to deliver world-class solutions for diverse applications such as 5G, broadband, Internet of Things (IoT), data center, and solar power. Our cutting-edge technology includes Lithium batteries, Fault Managed Power Systems, and Extended Run Time battery backup systems that improve the reliability and resiliency of broadband networks.

Compensation Range: $72,300-$90,000

Compensation may vary based on applicant's work experience, education level, skill set, and/or location.

Job Purpose

We are a large manufacturing company located in Burnaby, Vancouver. We are looking for a seasoned and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This position requires a very high level of attention to detail, ensuring the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of transactions and financials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure transactions are accurately recorded in the general ledger in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and review recurring and non-recurring journal entries.
  • Ensure matching of revenue and cost of goods sold in order to perform margin analysis.
  • Perform monthly expense review and analysis.
  • Prepare monthly lead-sheet analysis, follow-up on corrections.
  • Prepare, analyze, and compose reports as required (e.g., Income statement, balance sheets, cost reports).
  • Assist with annual budgeting process, as well as monthly forecast.
  • Execute appropriate SOX-compliant controls in accordance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with external auditors for the annual audit.
  • Provide guidance to the AP team and review coding.
  • Identify and initiate process improvements.
  • Assist with various projects as required.

Qualifications

  • Canadian recognized accounting designation or equivalent education.
  • Minimum 5 years progressive work experience in an accounting role; experience in manufacturing, operations, or project-related accounting strongly preferred.
  • CPA firm experience is highly valued.
  • Experience working in a publicly traded company and SOX control environment is preferred.
  • Willingness to dig into details; inquisitive in pursuing further understanding/clarity on behind-the-scenes workings with own initiative.
  • Experience working in a large ERP.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Working knowledge of word processing software and intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

  • This position will work in an office setting, expect minimal physical demands.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime.
