Postdoctoral Researcher - Mobile Application and UX Development Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking an innovative and skilled Postdoctoral Fellow – Mobile Application and UX Development Specialist to join our research team focused on developing advanced mobile and web applications for agricultural and digital farming solutions. This role combines expertise in mobile application development, user experience design, and cutting-edge technology to address challenges in agriculture and support sustainable practices. The successful candidate will contribute to impactful research, creating tools that empower agricultural stakeholders, enhance operational efficiency, and improve decision-making processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop mobile applications for Android and iOS using frameworks such as Flutter, React Native, or Swift, tailored for agricultural use cases.
• Build web applications using modern frameworks like React or Angular, with a focus on agricultural data visualization and user interaction.
• Design and implement intuitive and accessible user interfaces for diverse user groups, including farmers in resource-constrained environments and low-literacy populations.
• Collaborate with researchers to integrate machine learning models into applications that provide actionable insights for precision agriculture, digital livestock farming, GHG emissions, remote sensing data, crop monitoring, and sustainability.
• Develop robust backend solutions using cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and frameworks such as Node.js or Django, enabling seamless data integration and real-time analytics.
• Apply design frameworks to enhance user engagement and promote the adoption of digital tools in agriculture.
• Conduct user testing, beta-testing, and deployment processes, focusing on agricultural applications such as yield prediction, soil health monitoring, and irrigation management.
• Lead usability studies, analyze user feedback, and iterate designs to address the needs of agricultural stakeholders.
• Present research findings at conferences, contribute to academic publications, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to advance agricultural technology.

Skills and Qualifications

• A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or a related field, with interests in agricultural or digital farming end use applications.
• Expertise in mobile application development, including experience with Flutter, React Native, and Swift.
• Proficiency in web application development using frameworks like React and Angular.
• Strong UX and interface design skills, with familiarity in wireframing and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch.
• Experience integrating machine learning models with applications, particularly for agricultural insights and decision support.
• Knowledge of backend development frameworks like Node.js or Django, and cloud services like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Familiarity with precision agriculture technologies, including sensors, IoT devices, and remote sensing data.
• Proven experience designing applications for diverse and resource-constrained agricultural environments.
• Competence in app testing methodologies, beta-testing strategies, and deployment processes.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
