SSR Mining – Seabee Gold Operation (SGO) is hiring for an Operational Excellence Advisor.

About Your New Role:

Reporting to the General Manager, the Operational Excellence Advisor will lead continuous site level improvement initiatives. You will identify and prioritize improvement initiatives in collaboration with site leadership. You will facilitate improvement opportunities applicable to SSR and create step change through successful implementation.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and coach site leadership and CI project teams through the project life cycle consisting of project identification, initiation, planning, implementation, and closeout. This includes:
    • Guiding and assisting departments to run fact-based data analysis to identify and prioritize continuous improvement projects.
    • Coaching project leaders and sponsors to write project charters and develop project Gantt charts.
    • Assist project leaders in conducting project financial benefit estimations and compiling benefit estimation models for the entire site.
    • Lead site and corporate validation of CI project benefits.
    • Manage a site portfolio of CI projects by assisting project leaders in staying on track with project progress, tracking projects in project management systems, and ensuring project meetings are happening to identify and mitigate project risks.
    • Facilitate project kickoff and closeout meetings.
    • Facilitating problem-solving sessions using structured problem-solving tools.
    • The role will be primarily responsible for identifying and overseeing the implementation of site improvement initiatives consistent with SSR’s operating methods.
    • Conduct data analysis as part of focused improvement initiatives or continuous process monitoring (including but not limited to data collection plans, creating KPIs, run charts or dashboards, FMEA, developing visual management boards, root cause analysis).
  • Actively facilitate detailed workflows, processes, standards, and procedures relevant to operational reporting and identify practices that drive value.
  • Investigate shortfalls and process inefficiencies within current site operations and maintenance processes.
  • Communicate progress of site-level improvement initiatives and develop mitigation strategies for initiatives that do not meet timing and task progress.
  • Align the site process to the corporate OE process, training materials, and OE methodologies.
  • Train, mentor, and guide team members in new processes.
  • Provide coaching and support to promote and embed operations excellence and continuous improvement culture.
  • Collaborate with site stakeholders to enhance productivity and staff satisfaction.
  • Develop an annual site-level OE program, taking inputs from the Strategic Business Plan (SBP), annual business planning process, and other business priorities.
  • Support site initiative sponsors and project leads to progress improvement deliverables.
  • Oversee standards, BI toolsets, and datasets.
  • Support all BI strategic solutions, such as Value Driver Trees, dynamics reporting, data analytics, and visualization, to provide site leadership with insights and recommendations for decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Organize and facilitate monthly site leadership CI project review.
  • Support the implementation of innovation and operational technology projects at site level.
  • Assist with site-level project change management for projects.
  • Provide continuous training, coaching, and mentorship to department CI ambassadors.
  • Help with the overall development of CI program at the site and drive site CI culture through stakeholder engagement and leading by influence.

Your Knowledge and Skills:

  • Functional knowledge of mine and mill operations as well as maintenance and materials management.
  • Excellent data and business analysis skills – detailed analysis and definitions of KPIs, measures, business logic and calculations, reporting requirements, process mapping, data collection, root cause analysis, hypothesis testing, and statistics.
  • Proficient as a facilitator of workshops and process improvement initiatives using continuous improvement methodologies (DMAIC, A3, SIPOC, VOC, process mapping, value stream mapping, FMEA, 5 Whys, 5S, visual management, fishbone, waste analysis, standard work).
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills and the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization, both written and oral.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to work in tight deadlines and handle the pressure of last minute requests with little to no supervision.
  • International travel will be required.
  • Ability to link the impact of operational efficiency metrics to business outcomes (ie revenue, cost) through financial analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across the organization as a change agent to achieve results.
  • High levels of energy, drive and maturity.
  • Leverage expertise and leadership skills to create value and buy-in from management team to the front line.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish and Turkish language would be a definite asset.

Your Education and Experience:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or Mining related field.
  • Minimum 8-10 years’ of related experience, preferably within a resource-based organization.
  • 3+ years’ experience in CI.
  • Certified (or working towards certification) such as a six sigma green belt, additional certification in Lean and/or Kaizen is a plus.

About Our Working Conditions:

This position has a schedule of 4 days on, 3 days off at our remote camp which you will be required to fly in fly out with pick up points in Saskatoon, Prince Albert and La Ronge.
