The open-pit gold mine is a joint venture between IAMGOLD and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. and is operated by IAMGOLD. We are located near Gogama, Ontario, with access to stable infrastructure and strong connections with our local communities.

Operations Manager

The Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing all operational activities within our organization. This position blends technical expertise with strategic leadership to identify opportunities, streamline processes, and enhance organizational productivity.

The successful candidate will lead day-to-day operations, developing and executing strategic plans that align with business objectives and market conditions. They will monitor industry trends and technological advancements, enhancing operational capabilities while maintaining cost control within approved budgets.

The role also includes identifying operational risks, developing mitigation strategies, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols, production targets, and quality standards. A key aspect of the role is promoting operational excellence, which involves implementing best practices, optimizing resource utilization, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization.

The Operations Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive optimization initiatives, assess process improvements, and de-bottleneck operations.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves

To thrive in this role, you must have 15 years of experience, including 10 years of supervision, and a background in the mining or natural resources industry. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical understanding of mining processes and equipment. They will also have exceptional leadership skills, effective communication abilities, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence. A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field is required, and project management experience is considered a key asset.
