Job Description

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the administration and delegation of work for team members within our Field Service Representatives according to their skill and experience.
  2. Collaborate with the Service Applications Engineering team in support of proposals and own the jobs won from concept to through-life support.
  3. Plan to achieve budgets or be under budget in total labor hours with the help of the Technical Service Manager.
  4. Plan work to effectively manage overtime to departmental budget requirements with the help of the Technical Service Manager.
  5. Assist in managing your group to work safely and achieve no lost time accidents.
  6. Create a team environment and work with your group to be a positive, motivating force. Manage problems (i.e. absenteeism, attitude, workmanship, efficiency, work habits) with the help of the Technical Service Manager.
  7. Travel is typically 15%, but there could be periods of higher travel requests during service rotations per year.
  8. Participate in reviewing objectives/continuous improvement initiatives with your team.
  9. Participate in the planning stage of the project with the Assembly Manager, Project Manager, and project team.
  10. Attend design review(s) to critique design for manufacturability and functionality.
  11. Coordinate manufacturing needs through your group and at times with other trades as required.
  12. Ensure that ATS standards are met during the assembly process and appropriately apply our internal NCR & DCI processes where applicable.
  13. Strictly follow ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016 Quality requirements as defined within the manual and procedures.
  14. Support the Manager in the selection of Toolmaker/Assembler to be an ambassador for ATS at the customers’ site.
  15. Communicate and be a channel for any constructive or objective ideas that arise; helping to keep the manufacturing standards up-to-date and at the highest level.
  16. Ensure the health and safety of employees in their group by ensuring that machinery and equipment are safe and that employees work in compliance with established safe work practices.
  17. Conduct 1:1 with team members on a regular basis to continuously develop & coach them.
  18. Complete performance appraisals, keeping in mind that performance is key.
  19. Provide input on planned capital expenditures for manufacturing equipment during the fiscal budgeting process.
  20. Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
  21. Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety, and Environment compliance.
  22. Hold team members accountable for health, safety, and environmental compliance as part of the annual performance review process.
  23. Ensure that the requirements of the health, safety and environment management system are implemented and maintained.
  24. Provide information, instruction, and supervision to employees.
  25. Step in to fill FSR Mechanical duties when required (except travel %).

Qualifications

Education:

A post-secondary diploma, degree, or certificate of qualification specializing in mechanical engineering, Tool & die maker, Millwright, MTBI, or equivalent. Design experience is an asset.

Experience:

A minimum of five years of experience servicing or building high-speed automation systems. The successful candidate must be a good communicator, display professionalism, and have well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to work with all levels of customer and ATS management in a multi-disciplined engineering environment under pressure. An excellent understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics with basic electrical and system control, along with the ability to read engineering drawings, reference manuals, and assembly systems instruction guides is essential. Must have experience and be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. The individual must have the ability to quickly gain knowledge to readily troubleshoot systems.
