Job Title: Senior Mortgage Underwriter

Experience Required: 5+ years experience in mortgage underwriting on the broker side

Job Description: We are seeking a Senior Mortgage Underwriter to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for collecting, reviewing, and submitting client documentation for mortgage loan applications. You will work directly with the broker and team to ensure that all necessary documents are provided and ensure that all mortgage files comply with regulatory requirements before submission to lenders.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Collect and review all required client documents, including but not limited to income verification, credit reports, and property documents, appraisals.
2. Ensure compliance with all required documentation and regulatory guidelines.
3. Submit complete and accurate mortgage applications to lenders for approval.
4. Communicate with clients and internal teams to address any missing or incomplete documentation.
5. Evaluate the risk associated with each mortgage application based on company policies and industry standards.
6. Maintain detailed records of underwriting decisions and actions taken.
7. Provide feedback and support to junior underwriters and processing teams.

Qualifications:

1. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Mortgage Underwriter, Senior Underwriter, or similar role in the mortgage or lending industry.
2. Extensive knowledge of mortgage lending guidelines, regulations, and industry standards.
3. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
4. Ability to work independently and efficiently while managing multiple files.
5. Strong communication and customer service skills.
6. Certification from a recognized mortgage underwriting body (if applicable).

Preferred Skills:

1. Proficiency in underwriting software.
2. Bilingual skills are a plus.
