The Opportunity

The Director of Finance Operations will be responsible for managing and optimizing the company's financial operations, focusing on accurate financial processes, team management, and ownership of critical operational tasks like the matching file, which aligns supplier and customer invoices. This is a hands-on role, requiring direct involvement in day-to-day operations and manual processes, with a key focus on operational efficiency and compliance. You will work alongside a Senior Leader focused on special projects including FP&A, but with a distinct focus on operational finance.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Finance Management:

  • Oversee and manage daily financial operations, including invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash flow.
  • Manage an AR team focused on DSO through direct outreach, liens, legal, and 3rd party as a means of collections.
  • Lead efforts to streamline manual processes and implement operational improvements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure financial accuracy and adherence to company policies.
  • Manage US sales and taxes by state, filings, registrations, and tax exemptions.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor a team responsible for manual financial processes.
  • Provide hands-on management, ensuring team members are supported and processes are followed accurately.
  • Experience managing remote teams and ensuring collaboration across different geographies.

Process Optimization & Compliance:

  • Ensure financial processes are efficient and accurate, minimizing risks and errors.
  • Work closely with the internal audit team to maintain compliance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and work towards operational excellence within the finance department.
  • Manage bank reconciliations, banking, credit cards, and Float system.

Risk Management & Internal Controls:

  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls to manage risks associated with financial operations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations and reporting requirements.

Who Are You?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in operational finance or similar roles, with a focus on financial processes and team management.
  • Hands-on experience in managing manual financial tasks and processes is essential.
  • Experience working with remote teams.
  • Strong understanding of invoicing, accounts payable/receivable, and other core financial processes. Experience in the rental industry is an asset.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
