Vice-President - Treaty

This is a hybrid role primarily based in our Montreal office with the ability to work from home within Aon’s guidelines.

What the day will look like

  • Manage a portfolio of existing clients with a significant level of annual brokerage
  • Be a major revenue or new business producer
  • Achieve high client satisfaction by providing exceptional service through managing the overall reinsurance placement process
  • Be viewed by clients as a strategic partner
  • Focus on helping senior leaders grow existing accounts and attract new accounts
  • Achieve treaty placement goals for client portfolios of business at or above set levels
  • Be widely recognized as an expert with outstanding problem solving abilities and top notch client relationship management capabilities
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients and reinsurers
  • Work closely with management to establish and implement strategy for new business development
  • Inform clients about other Aon products and services that can help them manage their business needs
  • Ensure all placements are checked and booked in our proprietary system
  • Ensure that comprehensive and accurate contracts document the relationship between cedant and reinsurer
  • Speak effectively to clients and professional groups
  • Represent Aon externally through professional associations and industry groups
  • Demonstrate leadership within Aon and the insurance/reinsurance industry
  • Have superior knowledge of the service offerings of Aon
  • Work with management to research and develop new approaches and concepts
  • Foster and promote a team approach to both internal and external business relationships
  • Manage account team members to ensure they are meeting clients’ needs
  • Be committed to pursuing self-development of knowledge and skills in the evolving world of insurance, reinsurance and associated analytics

How this opportunity is different

Reinsurance is a unique and critical component of the insurance ecosystem. You’ll be working with dynamic, adaptable and sophisticated individuals. On the one hand reinsurance buyers, who will need Aon’s expert advice to help them analyze and optimize their reinsurance purchase. On the other, reinsurance underwriters who you will negotiate with on behalf of your clients to ensure that clients’ programs are placed in a timely, economically and orderly fashion.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • At least 5 years of experience in Reinsurance or 10 plus years in Insurance
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the capability to interact with major clients to cultivate and maintain strong relationships
  • Excellent bilingual (French and English) communicator (both verbally and in writing) with internal and external clients
  • Entrepreneurial attitude with high level of accountability for profitability and client satisfaction
  • Strong organization and time management skills; able to multi-task and manage projects
  • Ability to work independently as a self-starter; committed to delivering the highest in client service, quality and results
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to make sound business decisions
  • Proactive problem-solver who anticipates issues and suggests creative solutions
  • Ability to embrace change in support of the business unit’s and company’s goals
  • Comprehensive knowledge of MS Office suite of products with ability to learn and use multiple software and system-based applications
  • Professional demeanour with positive attitude
  • Professional designations, for example CIP or CIA membership, will be an asset
