About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Nutrition and Food Services, Northern Zone, the Assistant Manager, Nutrition and Food Services, Northern Zone supports the work of the Director to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of Nutrition and Food Services specific to a larger regional site within the zone. The Assistant Manager is responsible for the planning, organizing, and controlling of all aspects of operations and day-to-day management of Nutrition and Food Services within the designated areas. Responsible for implementing Nutrition and Food Services initiatives and communicating and liaising with the Director regarding operational challenges and barriers and potential solutions, the Assistant Manager also assists the Director of Nutrition and Food Services with human resources, change management, daily operational tasks, and implementation of new initiatives supporting a culture of nutrition.

The Assistant Manager ensures patient safety is maintained through a patient meal ordering process to decrease the risk of allergen contamination, potential anaphylaxis, and food borne illness while also ensuring compliance with therapeutic nutrition requirements and restrictions to address patient medical needs.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Food Science, Nutrition, Culinary Arts or other Science degree
  2. Completion of Advanced Food Safety Training
  3. Three (3) to five (5) years’ progressive management experience in health care
  4. Knowledge of institutional food service operations
  5. Basic computer proficiency and ability to work within the Microsoft Office suite
  6. Experience with Nutrition software an asset
  7. Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills
  8. Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to develop and maintain good relationships with all levels of staff and clients including those internal and external to the organization
  9. Ability to interpret statistical data, and monitor quality and performance indicators and benchmarks
  10. Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships and partnerships
  11. Experience in financial planning and human resource management
  12. Experience managing in a unionized environment
  13. Knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, policies and standards
  14. Excellent organizational, time management and problem-solving skills with ability to manage conflicting deadlines
  15. Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity
  16. Nova Scotia driver’s license and reliable vehicle for travel required

Long Assignment, Full-Time; 75 Hours Biweekly

Assignment Length Approximately 14 Months

Compensation and Benefits

$35.27- $44.09 Hourly
