Job description

Our Client, an Agriculture Products company, is looking for an Engineer Product II for their Alberta, CAN location.

Responsibilities:

  1. Product Verification & Validation Major Purpose Plans, coordinates, performs product design, testing and/or analysis work for a complete project of moderate scope or for a significant portion or a sub-system of a major and diverse project.
  2. Operates in a team environment, providing input to design solutions and participating in design reviews.
  3. May assign, coordinate and review portions of the work to support personnel.
  4. Decisions are made within established guidelines and may be reviewed by supervisors.
  5. Contribute to the analysis of information and the specification of the methods and process steps, as well as the plant, machinery, and equipment, required to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems to deliver the end product within specified cost and quality parameters.
  6. Contribute to the development of, and implement feasibility testing of, proposed engineering solutions to provide feedback and data to validate the design.
  7. Contribute to the analysis of information, the drafting of engineering standards and specifications, and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards within own engineering discipline to inform engineering work in the organization and/or of its suppliers, contractors, and consultants.
  8. Carry out inspections under the supervision of senior colleagues to evaluate the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures, and make recommendations to senior colleagues on the remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
  9. Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them.
  10. Deliver small- or medium-scale projects while working within an established program management plan.
  11. Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
  12. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  13. Work collaboratively with other professional teams and over organizational boundaries to ensure service users experience cohesive and seamless support to meet their needs.
  14. Create and maintain complex technical and/or user documentation to a high standard, and back up files to ensure instant recovery if problems occur.
  15. Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on how to get results using new and advanced engineering technologies.
  16. Works without supervision and provides technical guidance as needed on executing engineering designs using the appropriate methods, tools, processes and software.
  17. Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on producing technical engineering specifications and related materials.
  18. Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on testing, evaluating and improving engineering outcomes.
  19. Builds engineering solutions without supervision and provides technical guidance on these solutions as needed.
  20. Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on implementing engineering designs, evaluating outcomes and then making improvements as needed.
  21. Manages and applies safe systems of work without supervision and provides technical guidance when required.
  22. Uses clear and effective verbal communications skills without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on expressing ideas, requesting actions and formulating plans or policies.
  23. Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on identifying, assessing, prioritizing and managing project-related risks.
  24. Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on measuring and reporting progress toward intermediate targets to make sure a project stays on track to achieve its ultimate goals.
  25. Works with full competence to identify, verify, and manage changes to the scope of the project or program, utilizing the most appropriate approach.

  27. Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on analyzing data trends for use in reports to help guide decision making.

  33. Works at an intermediate level to build the structure and culture of the project team, and define roles and responsibilities within that structure to enable the achievement of project mission and objectives and the effective operation of key business processes.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Level
  • Advanced computer skills and familiarity with Office 365 programs.
  • Basic mechanical and electronic hardware knowledge.
  • Good communication skills and comfortable working in a team environment.
  • Farming or agricultural experience.
  • Experience with remote sensing metrics applicable to agriculture.
  • Basic photography skills and how to set hardware for success in specific conditions.
  • Any sort of programming language knowledge (Python, Matlab) would be an asset.
  • Ideally you will have a degree, diploma, or equivalent related work experience in the following:
  • Agricultural (Agribusiness, Agronomy, Environmental etc.)
  • Engineering
