The successful candidate should have the capability to work in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to communicate and interact directly with other disciplines (architects, electrical/structural engineers, etc.). Responsibilities:

  • Design of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, and controls) in industrial and commercial buildings.
  • Develop construction documents (plans, details, schematics) in AutoCAD, Microstation, and in some cases Revit.
  • Develop 3D model using PDS, Microstation, Smart Plant, and/or Auto-Plant.
  • Review of all project specifications.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines for information related to the area of responsibility.
  • Delegate work and coordinate requirements with our global integrated delivery offices.
  • Perform detailed calculations in sizing and selection of HVAC equipment.
  • Assist senior engineer/designer in carrying out technical tasks, including development of technical documents (datasheets, equipment lists, material requisitions, and EWPs/CWPS).
  • Become knowledgeable in areas related to the responsibilities of and the interaction between the Mechanical department and other departments.
  • Provide technical advice to others within the company.
  • Travel to site for equipment testing/witnessing, and field reviews/inspections.

Technical and Industry Experience:

  • Experience and familiarity with Alberta Building Code, Alberta Fire Code, National Plumbing Code, and other applicable building codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE and SMACNA standards.
  • Experience with mechanical building systems and designing building services within the industrial building sector.
  • Experience with heating water, chilled water, refrigeration, and plumbing systems in a plant environment.
  • Project track record of design for HVAC, Plumbing, and Building Automation Systems design.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microstation.
  • Proficiency with 3D modeling software including PDS, Microstation, Smartplant, and Auto-Plant.
  • Experience in using Carrier HAP or similar software for load calculations.
  • Demonstrated experience or track record of managing multiple projects and working in a fast-paced environment while being able to work independently.
