About The Opportunity

The social worker will report to the Manager of Child and Adolescent Mental Health & Addiction Services and provide school mental health services directly in designated Schools Plus schools (NDA, Cheticamp, and Etoile de L’Acadie, Sydney). Responsibilities include creating and providing evidence-based educational presentations on mental health topics, conducting assessments, and acting as a liaison between clients, schools, and mental health services.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Master's in social work with a specialization in clinical mental health or addictions treatment for children, adolescents, and families.
  • Eligibility for registration with the Nova Scotia Association of Social Workers.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in a mental health environment for both inpatients and outpatients.
  • Proven expertise in behavior management principles and cognitive-behavioral therapy.
  • Knowledge of DSM-5 for assessing and diagnosing mental health disorders in children.
  • Experience in conducting mental health assessments and implementing evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Strong skills in evaluating students' social, emotional, and academic competencies.
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive psychoeducational assessment reports.
  • Consultation experience with teachers, administrators, and parents.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both French and English.
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly.
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.

Hours

  • Permanent Part Time (50%); 37.5 Hours bi-weekly

Compensation and Incentives

$37.31 - $49.05 Hourly. Successful candidates may be eligible for a benefits package including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage.
