Machine Operator - Afternoon shift

Bailey Metals, founded in 1950, is a leading Canadian company with manufacturing locations across Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, and British Columbia. Position Summary

The main purpose is to operate, adjust and set up assigned mill lines independently while meeting production, quality and safety requirements.

Responsibilities:

What you’ll do:

1. Load steel and paper coil onto uncoilers using crane.
2. Tighten uncoiler and cut straps on the coil.
3. Guide the steel into processing areas (rolls) using jogging controls.
4. Activate machine using control panel by selecting the order type. Clear any jam-ups.
5. Set up or adjust rolls and conduct quality inspection to check product conformance.
6. Gather products, strap into bundles, place bundles onto wagon and apply product identification.
7. Prepare all required production and safety related reports and forward them to the Supervisor.
8. Complete any other work assigned by Supervisor / Lead hand / Plant Manager.
9. Ensure that co-workers / helpers work safely and report all unsafe practices.
10. Abide by all Health & Safety rules, safe practices and requirements laid out by Bailey.

Qualifications and Requirements:

1. Working knowledge of hand tools such as tin snips, tape measures and calipers etc.
2. Able to operate forklift and overhead crane preferred.
3. Personal attributes include ethical, open-minded, observant, and tenacious.
4. Quick learner, team player with initiative and capable of meeting deadlines.

1. 4/10 shift: Monday to Thursday 3:30 pm to 1:30 am.
2. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
