Mechanical Engineer

Job details

We are currently searching for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Calgary team. You will work closely with our current engineer, management, and operations team while gaining hands-on engineering experience in the drilling services industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and manage project timelines to ensure design, testing, and production milestones are met.
  2. Create and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) for all tools and equipment designs.
  3. Liaise with suppliers and vendors to source materials, evaluate new technologies, and ensure components meet specifications.
  4. Perform cost analysis and value engineering to optimize designs for performance and manufacturability.
  5. Develop and conduct training sessions for field technicians and operations staff on tool functionality and maintenance.
  6. Assist in patent research and IP development to protect innovative designs.
  7. Participate in field trials and customer site visits to gather performance feedback and identify improvement opportunities.
  8. Contribute to risk assessments and design reviews to proactively identify potential failures or issues.
  9. Support the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for tool assembly, testing, and maintenance.
  10. Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to provide technical expertise for product presentations and customer inquiries.

Qualifications & Skills:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  2. 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in downhole tool design.
  3. Proficient in SolidWorks modeling and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  5. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
  6. Experience designing downhole tools or related oil and gas equipment.
  7. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, welding, and material selection.
  8. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  9. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Job Type:

Full-time

Pay:

$120,000.00-$160,000.00 per year
