Job Overview:
The Program Events Coordinator develops and plans the delivery of large and small events for Kanawemahwasowin Kamik’s Prevention and Wellbeing Division ranging from large organizational events to unit meetings. This position takes the lead in coordinating communications on events/programs, facilitating workshops and resourcing community supports.
Scope of Authority and Responsibility:
- Legal powers of a particular job or function in three categories
- Authority & Accountability involving Operations
- Designs and provides Prevention and Wellbeing activity plans, program and event plans; compiling into a budget and calendar;
- Monitor’s budget/spending for each project and provides detailed written reports as required;
- Coordinates with KKI staff/service providers to provide feedback and assign responsibilities for each project;
- Evaluates program effectiveness, participation and compiles into reporting;
- Track activities and support the follow-up and implementation of key initiatives;
- Support events, include attending events and coordinating materials and resources required;
- Create bookings and lead in event detail; ordering of supplies/promotional items and materials required;
- Serves as point of contact for program and event inquiries.

Education and Experience:
- Post secondary in Education, Event Coordinator or related discipline
- Experience in organizing meetings and building relationships with vendors
- Experience in coordinating events, small and large scale.
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and own vehicle is essential
- Successful completion of Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector
- Screening)
- Ability to work flexible hours and to travel.
Work Environment:
- Office environment in climate-controlled space.
- Sitting and standing.
- Occasionally outdoors.
- Light lifting in event detail, take down and clean up.
- Given the traditional practices of the Maskwacis Cree, from time to time there can be expose to wood smoke and the burning of medicines, including tobacco, sweetgrass, sage, cedar or fungus, will occur within the work setting.

- Usage of numerous media technology including computers, copiers, internet, Microsoft Office and presentation/teaching equipment software.
