Our client, a fun, inspiring interactive agency located in the King and Spadina area in a beautiful loft with lots of sun has engaged ROSS (www.getROSS.com) to help them recruit a Technical Operations Support Specialist.ROSS is a team of People Specialists helping companies align their People Strategy with their business growth. We provide remote or site HR and Recruitment solutions complimented by leading edge open-source HRIS software.
You will be responsible for all aspects of day-to-day technical operations for our client’s busy retail client’s Applications and Systems. You will be responsible for hands-on technical support and problem resolution in order to meet Service Level Agreements.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensures that technical issues are identified pro-actively and communicated effectively
- React quickly to live systems issues and service problems to minimize downtime and restore service
- Liaise with development team to support new features and services
- Work with system administrators to manage infrastructure, hands-on system administration work as required
- Ensure that business objectives are met and deliverables are achieved in the agreed timescale, budget and quality
- Analyze root cause for incidents, implement permanent fixes and produce necessary documentation
- Promotes and implements the use of automated, repeatable processes for technical support activities
- Release management and release schedule review and impact analysis
- Assist with the construction, planning, coordination, communication, and execution of code releases through testing environments and eventually into production environments.
- Build and maintain automated systems for builds, tests, releases and deployments.
Education:
- Bachelor of Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience
Skills:
- Must possess minimum 2-3 years experience working with web applications within a large IT infrastructure
- Solid understanding of web based applications and fundamental technologies including J2EE, Open Source platforms/frameworks, RDBMS
- Experience with Windows, AIX, and Linux Operating System platforms
- Strong experience in administration/maintenance of software version control systems such as SVN
- Hands-on experience with build tools including Ant, Hudson, Maven
- Strong in Perl and shell scripting (Bash, Csh)
- Knowledge of best practices related to release management and software configuration management
- Strong problem analysis skills
- Ability to convey technical concepts and recommendations to non-technical individuals
- Possess strong written and spoken communications skills
- Ability to properly prioritize multiple simultaneous tasks
- Ability to work under the pressure of frequent and tight deadlines
- Energetic, motivated and decisive individual
