The Canada Specialty FP&A Lead is responsible for the financial activities and business partnering for the NA and Canada Specialty business. They will provide support to the Canadian and NA Specialty Leader and each of the Canadian Specialty Product leaders. Canada Specialty is a $400m gross business comprising of 5 key lines: Energy, Construction, Marine, Aviation and Credit Lines (Trade Credit, Political Risk, Trade Finance). The individual will support front office decision making and enable improved management transparency into performance metrics. This role will report into the Global Specialty Finance team based out of London, with a matrix into the Canadian CFO team.
How you will create an impact
- Budget/ Planning/ Forecasting
- Lead planning, budgeting and forecasting activities for all products and sub-lines (allowing for trending and seasonality);
- Identify revenue and profit improvement opportunities;
- Develop multi-year plans with supporting strategies for products and countries.
- Financial Reporting
- Support the Canada Specialty leader through timely and relevant financial information;
- Provision of monthly financial metrics, including top-line trends, expense MI and quarter close results;
- Ensure all legal entity financial reporting requirements are met in a timely and accurate manner, in partnership with the Canadian CFO.
- Business Partnership
- Proactive finance business partnering to drive insights, growth and profitability;
- Quarterly P&L analysis with linkage to business plans;
- Embed the use of common key performance metrics and leverage analytics to drive action;
- Key initiative delivery/monitoring.
The candidate will possess proven analytical, communication and organizational skills. It is imperative that they possess excellent insurance business acumen, strong analytical skills, along with the expertise to navigate and achieve the organization's financial goals. This individual must have experience across a broad range of financial disciplines and be a forward-thinking and progressive individual.
What you will need to succeed (subject to change)
- At least 5-10 years of progressive accountancy or finance experience
- BA degree or equivalent;
- Strong Business and Financial acumen and ability to present issues clearly and concisely
- Background in Financial statement analysis
- Experience in forecasting and modelling and strong knowledge of business performance and metrics
- Experience in performing complex analysis of financial and/or regulatory issues
- Superior understanding of the financial dynamics of a Property Casualty insurer and the related growth, profitability and risk drivers.
