The Engineering services group in Sudbury, Ontario provides mechanical and electrical design for all types of buildings in the educational, institutional, commercial, recreational, and multi-residential market. Our clients and projects are varied and diverse. The office is a high-energy workspace where we work closely as a team to meet the requirements and deadlines of our clients.
We currently have many educational, health care, institutional, retail, and multi-unit residential projects. We are looking for an intermediate Electrical Engineer with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Electrical design for buildings, including Building Power, Lighting, Fire Protection, Network Cabling, Security, and Communications systems to join our growing team.
Your role will within the team
- Independent design of small and medium projects and portions of larger complex projects. Preparation of electrical specifications.
- Attendance to client, consultant, and contractor meetings.
- Obtaining information from equipment suppliers and incorporating it into designs and specifications. Preparation of engineering calculations.
- Coordinating with Utilities and Municipalities regarding incoming services.
- Preparation of schematics and project documents. Independent review of shop drawings.
- Review of quotations from contractors.
- Providing technical directions to junior designers and CAD operators.

The ideal candidate
- University degree in Electrical Engineering. Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or eligible to be registered.
- Minimum 5 years’ design experience. Demonstrated track record of electrical design of complex building systems.
- Extensive skills with AUTOCAD, REVIT, Word, Acrobat & Excel (Micro Station, Power simulation software and other design tools an asset).
- Familiarity with design requirements for Building Power, Lighting, fire protection, and Communications systems. Familiarity with relevant building codes including OBC, OECS, ASHRAE, CSA.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to working in a team environment. Ability to work on several projects at one time.
