Salary Range: $28.118 - $35.239 Hourly

Grade: SGEU.08

The ministry provides leadership and direction to Saskatchewan’s education, early years, library, and literacy sectors. Child Care Operations is seeking two term Early Learning and Child Care Consultants in Saskatoon. These positions play an integral role in advancing the Canada-Saskatchewan Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement. Reporting to the Program Manager for the central region, this position will be responsible for:

  1. Developing, licensing, and monitoring child care services;
  2. Supporting parents and caregivers;
  3. Assisting community groups and individuals to meet their child care needs;
  4. Ensuring information about early childhood care and education is available to the public;
  5. Enforcing The Child Care Act and The Child Care Regulations.

To be successful in this position, you will be a strong verbal and written communicator who is able to:

  1. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with a diverse group of people;
  2. Effectively mediate and negotiate solutions with various stakeholder groups in a diplomatic manner;
  3. Identify needs and issues and determine an appropriate course of action to address concerns;
  4. Independently plan and prioritize responsibilities in order to achieve work objectives.

Typically, the knowledge and experience required in this position would be acquired through:

  1. Experience as the Director of a child care centre;
  2. Formal education in early childhood care, child development, and education programming;
  3. Knowledge of the administration of non-profit organizations and an understanding of board dynamics;
  4. An equivalent amount of related education and experience will also be considered.

A valid Saskatchewan driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are necessary as intra-city and provincial travel, as well as overnight stays, are required.
