Our client, a respected land surveying firm specializing in the oil and gas sector, is seeking a highly motivated Business Development Representative (Outside Sales) to drive new business growth.

This role is ideal for a hunter—someone who thrives on cold calling, networking, and developing strong industry relationships. Reporting to the VP of Business Development, you will take the lead in identifying new business opportunities, building a strong sales pipeline, and closing deals that align with company growth objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The key job functions are:

  • Prospecting & Lead Generation: Actively seek out and engage potential clients through cold calling, networking events, and industry outreach.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and nurture long-term relationships, positioning the company as the go-to partner for land surveying services.
  • Sales Process Management: Develop and execute a structured sales strategy to ensure consistent pipeline growth and deal closures.
  • Industry Engagement: Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.
  • Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with Project Managers to develop accurate project scopes, pricing, and proposals.

Education:

  • Business Administration Diploma or related education preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.
  • Ability to travel as needed (25-50%+).

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of sales experience, ideally in business development or outside sales.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams) and CRM systems.
  • Preference given to those with relevant industry experience.

Skills:

  • Strong Prospecting & Lead Generation Abilities – Skilled in cold calling, networking, and identifying new business opportunities.
  • Exceptional Relationship-Building Skills – Ability to establish and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.
  • Effective Communication & Negotiation – Persuasive and confident in pitching services, handling objections, and closing deals.
  • Strategic Sales Planning – Experience developing and executing structured sales strategies to drive revenue growth.
  • Industry Knowledge & Market Awareness – Understanding of the oil and gas sector and ability to tailor sales approaches accordingly.
  • CRM & Data Management – Proficient in using CRM systems to track leads, manage accounts, and analyze sales data.
  • Time Management & Self-Motivation – Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities while working independently.

Base Salary: $100,000 per year + Commissions

Salary based on qualifications and experience, package is comprised of a base + commissions/bonus. Full benefits package included.

Work Hours: 40 hours per week.
