Job Purpose/Mandate:

Primarily this is a role as a Manufacturing Systems Analyst who installs, maintains and upgrades software systems used in manufacturing operations by using company-implemented Information systems. Proposes and implements reporting systems for data management collected by operations. Works with equipment manufacturers to interface machine data with the shop floor management system in use. Improves the reliability and performance of the systems in place. Monitors usage and performance. Trains personnel on system usage. Controls user access and passwords.

Nature of Duties:

  1. Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
  2. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining data management solutions.
  3. Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, and general instructions on new assignments.
  4. Has the authority to make responsible decisions comparable to the scope of the position.
  5. Maintains and customizes the manufacturing data collection system to support specific customer requirements.
  6. Responsible for developing and enhancing tools within the plant (i.e., WIP tracking, RMA tracking, Purge Database, etc.).
  7. Develops and enhances reporting formats within the system in use and customizes reports as necessary.
  8. Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise and system users in operations.
  9. Provides training and/or guidance related to the shop floor data collection system.
  10. Assesses user requirements and customizes the system to meet customer-specific reports.
  11. Evaluates current production needs and determines how the shop floor data system can better address them.
  12. Participates in cross-functional meetings related to production requirements.
  13. Investigates and resolves user access and system issues and identifies opportunities for future enhancements.
  14. Creates documentation to assist end users with navigating the system.

Education and Experience:

  1. This role generally requires a bachelor’s degree in automation engineering or a related field.
  2. Typically requires a minimum of 4 years’ related experience.
  3. Knowledge of MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and how they interact with each other is considered an asset.
