Quality Control Technician

Hours: Fulltime (40 hours per week)

Location: Albany, PE (Onsite)

Pay: $19.32 - $20.91 per hour

Job Description: The Quality Control Technician ensures that the product and its manufacturing process meet food quality and safety standards by confirming that the process guidelines are followed effectively and safely. Responsibilities include:

  1. Taking responsibility in ensuring that workers follow the guidelines related to GMP and HACCP.
  2. Working closely with the Plant Production team & QC / HACCP team to provide quick responses to production requests relating to testing and inspection.
  3. Performing and assisting with other QC duties as required.
  4. Completing tasks at the request of the QC Manager.
  5. Checking the incoming & outgoing product quality as per the standards.
  6. Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment and apparatus and preparing solutions of liquid, reagents, and sample formulations.
  7. Communicating as per SOPs in case of any problem in incoming material.
  8. Ensuring that the correct product name and expiry date are labeled on the finished product.
  9. Monitoring TQC, GMP, and HACCP Programs and performing record keeping.
  10. Inspecting packaging, storage, and shipping facilities for conformance to company sanitation and safety standards.
  11. Setting up and performing sensory and bacteria tests at various stages of processing from raw materials to finished products, and compiling and evaluating records to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.
  12. Recommending modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of production capacity.
  13. Ensuring General Maintenance Practices by checking whether employees follow proper sanitation procedures.
  14. Ensuring that meat products are kept at proper temperatures during production and storage to preserve quality.
  15. Completing documentation provided by the HACCP Program on a daily basis.
  16. Following laboratory safety policies, company policies, procedures, and standards for safety (GMPs and HACCP).
  17. Carring special projects as requested by the Supervisor.

Qualifications:

  1. University degree or college diploma in Sciences, preferably chemistry or biology, and/or equivalent experience.
  2. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook.
  3. Ability to work effectively in an environment where priorities change constantly with minimal supervision.
  4. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  5. Good GMP documentation skills.
  6. Good analytical and synthesis skills in order to participate in problem solving and continuous improvement.

Work Conditions:

  1. Overtime may be required.
  2. Willingness to take some weekend and holiday on-call shifts.
  3. Ability to sit, stand, crouch, bend, and reach for extended periods of time.
  4. Manual dexterity required.
  5. Lifting or moving up to 60 lbs required.
  6. Typical work hours are from 7:30 am till 4:10 pm but may change as per the production schedule.
  7. May require working evenings and weekends.

Our workplace is a meat processing facility that has an environment of multi-temperatures and varying levels of humidity. We convert live cattle into Federally Inspected beef products. As per the conditions of employment, this position may be required to work in all areas of the plant including the slaughter processing area.
