Position Summary

As a Corrosion Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of cathodic protection systems used to control corrosion in metal structures such as pipelines, tanks, and other infrastructure. You will work closely with engineers, field personnel, and clients to ensure the reliability and effectiveness of corrosion control systems.

Position Information:

  • Work duration: spring, summer, and fall projects
  • 17/4 rotation, including travel days
  • Day shift
  • Projects located in BC, AB, SK - candidates must be comfortable traveling up to 3 weeks at a time
  • Accommodations and LOA provided

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular inspections and testing of cathodic protection systems to ensure proper functionality.
  • Install, test, adjust and/or repair rectifiers, anodes, and CP test points/stations.
  • Install, maintain and troubleshoot cathodic protection systems for various industrial applications.
  • Perform continuity tests and soil resistivity measurements.
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports, including test results, system status, and remedial recommendations for improvements.
  • Follow safety standards and best practices to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma is required or technical degree or diploma is considered an asset.
  • AMPP certification or equivalent certification (Cathodic Protection Tester or Technician) and AIT CP Level 1 are required.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license (non-GDL) with clean driving record. Experience with remote location navigation, including ATV/Quad/Sled utilization, is an asset.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with cathodic protection systems is required, with a basic understanding of corrosion control methods and cathodic protection principles.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills with strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to manage time to meet appropriate deadlines.
