Summary:

Reporting to the Property Manager, the Building Cleaner is responsible for providing regular cleaning of common areas within assigned buildings. May be required to clean vacated suites to ensure all suites are move-in ready by the 1st of the month. This position will fulfill all responsibilities and activities in close cooperation with Maintenance staff, Property Managers, Property Administrators, contractors, and service providers. The position of Building Cleaner is critical to customer service by depicting pride in property management and respect for our residents.

Responsibilities / Common Areas:

  • Responsible for cleaning all common areas within assigned buildings such as laundry rooms, gym, stairwells, lobbies, hallways, and site office.
  • Ensure high-touch and common surface areas are disinfected in accordance with the organization’s occupational health and safety protocols.
  • Conduct regular cleaning of building common areas including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning of all halls, air vents, light fixtures, emergency lights, fire extinguishers, landings, entrance, elevators, laundry room (wipe down all laundry equipment and clean out vents), and office area.
  • Maintain housekeeping equipment by cleaning and replacing items such as filter bags and mop heads.
  • Report unsafe and faulty equipment, fixtures, and furniture to the Property Manager.
  • Ensure safe use and storage of all cleaning supplies and maintain supply inventory.
  • Collect and remove garbage, clean external areas such as entranceways and sidewalks by removing dirt, leaves, snow, and other refuse.
  • Wash walls and windows and window coverings.
  • Vacuum, wash, and wax floors.
  • May also be requested to steam clean carpets and area rugs.
  • Maintain a trash and debris-free environment.
  • Provide excellent customer service when approached by tenants.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations.
  • Attend staff meetings, planning sessions, and training events as required.
  • Other duties relating to the upkeep of buildings as assigned.

Vacant Suites:

May also be responsible for cleaning vacated suites, ensuring suites on the market are ready for the 1st of each month and meet required cleaning standards set by the organization.

Deep Cleaning:

  • Thoroughly clean all surfaces, including walls, floors, ceilings, windows, doors, and baseboards.
  • Clean and disinfect bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, showers, and bathtubs.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen areas, including countertops, sinks, cabinets, and appliances.

Appliance Inspection:

  • Ensure all appliances are functioning correctly, including refrigerators, ovens, stoves, and dishwashers.
  • Clean and sanitize the interior and exterior of each appliance.

Carpet and Floor Cleaning:

  • Vacuum and shampoo carpets or other flooring, if applicable.
  • Sweep and mop hard surface floors, such as tile or wood.

Waste Disposal:

  • Dispose of any trash, debris, or unwanted items left behind by the previous tenant.
  • Recycle where possible and ensure proper waste disposal.

Communication and Coordination:

  • Coordinate with the property management team to ensure the suite is ready by the 1st of the month.
  • Report any significant issues or delays that could impact readiness.

Qualifications:

  • Physical capacity to lift and carry 30-lbs; stand, walk, and squat for extended periods of time.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage cleaning schedules efficiently.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Able to communicate with supervisor, residents, and the general public.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • WHIMIS certified (Training can be supplied).

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $47,840.00-$52,000.00 per year
