Overview

We're looking for a dynamic Human Resources Advisor to join our HR team on a 12-month temporary contract! In this role, you'll have the exciting opportunity to make an impact by providing day-to-day HR support to both our employees and leadership team. You'll work closely with key stakeholders to deliver HR services and solutions, contributing to a positive workplace culture. Your expertise will be essential in areas like employee relations, performance management, leave administration, and ensuring compliance with HR policies and regulations. The Location: Hexagon is a global company with offices around the world. This hybrid position is based in Calgary, AB.

Responsibilities

As Human Resources Advisor, you will be responsible for these activities:

  • Employee Relations: Provide guidance and advice to employees and managers on policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Leaves Management: Oversee and manage all employee leave requests, including sick leave, vacation, parental leave, and other types of leave. Ensure proper documentation, accurate record-keeping, and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Onboarding: In collaboration with HR Admin, coordinate and manage the onboarding process for new hires, including conducting orientations, and ensuring a smooth integration into the company culture.
  • Offboarding: Oversee the offboarding process for employees leaving the organization, including conducting exit interviews, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed, and providing feedback to improve retention efforts.
  • Employee Engagement: Contribute to employee engagement initiatives, including surveys, feedback, and recognition programs.
  • Compliance & Policy Support: Ensure HR practices comply with legal requirements, company policies, and industry best practices.
  • Health & Safety: Participate in the health and safety committee, ensuring the workplace adheres to all safety regulations and best practices. Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of health and safety policies and initiatives.
  • HR Projects: Assist with HR projects and initiatives as required.

Qualifications

Must Have:

  • A degree in Business or related field with a concentration in Human Resources.
  • At least 3 years of experience in an HR advisory or generalist role.
  • Understanding of Canadian employment law, HR best practices, and industry standards.
  • Coaching and advisory skills as it relates to working through matters with managers and employees.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with strong communication and business writing skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Known for exercising good judgment when dealing with complex and discrete matters.
  • Ability to quickly learn and effectively use a variety of systems and technology.
  • Adapts easily to changing priorities.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience working in the technology industry.
  • CHRP certification.
