Job Title: Employment Coordinator

Compensation: $1,666/month, $20,000/year
Job Summary
Welcome Neighbor STL is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Employment Coordinator to help refugees secure jobs in the St. Louis area. The Employment Coordinator will collaborate with local employers, community partners, and refugee families to ensure successful placements in reliable jobs that align with each individual’s skills, experiences, and needs. This position plays a vital role in promoting self-sufficiency and economic stability for refugee families transitioning to life in the U.S.
Key Responsibilities
- Job Placement & Career Counseling:
Conduct individualized assessments of refugees’ work history, skills, and employment goals.
Match refugees with appropriate job opportunities based on their qualifications and needs.
Provide guidance on job applications, resumes, and interview techniques.
Coordinate with employers to develop job placements and ensure a smooth transition for new employees. - Employer & Community Partnerships:
Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, organizations, and community partners to secure reliable job opportunities.
Educate employers on the benefits of hiring refugees and provide ongoing support.
Advocate for fair working conditions, wages, and benefits for refugee employees. - Training & Support:
Organize job readiness workshops, language support, and on-the-job training programs.
Assist with the preparation of employment documents (e.g., social security, work permits).
Provide post-placement follow-up to ensure job retention and address any challenges. - Collaboration & Case Management:
Work closely with the case worker, housing coordinator, and other staff to create comprehensive employment plans.
Maintain detailed records of employment activities, outcomes, and progress for reporting purposes.
Collaborate with external partners to offer additional services such as transportation, childcare, and educational opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience working with diverse populations, particularly refugees and immigrants.
- Knowledge of the St. Louis job market and local employment resources.
- Strong communication, networking, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Multilingual abilities (Arabic, Dari, Pashto) are a plus.
- Familiarity with using Google Drive applications (ex. Sheets, docs, calendar).
- Ability to use technology for virtual communication, data tracking, and reporting.
