Michelin North America (Canada) Inc., which employs 3,600 people and operates three tire manufacturing facilities in Nova Scotia, is seeking a Chemist to join its team in Granton, Nova Scotia.

The Chemist will be responsible for applying various chemical measurement methods and processes to guarantee the integrity of materials used in rubber-mixing operations.

Responsibilities:

  1. Performing chemical measurement tests across a variety of materials and applications;
  2. Retrieving chemical samples from an industrial environment;
  3. Guaranteeing measurement compliance throughout the testing process, allowing the release of products and/or the tests results;
  4. Monitoring test results and performing standard verifications, reporting all non-conformities and shifts in performance;
  5. Collaborating to determine the root cause of defects and non-performance, and resolving the issues at the team level;
  6. Troubleshooting errors with lab equipment and working collaboratively to continuously improve the testing procedures.

Requirements for this position include:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience;
  2. Experience working in a chemical lab and industrial setting is preferred;
  3. Experience analyzing data, reporting, and presenting results;
  4. Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  5. Proven teamwork, interpersonal, and planning skills;
  6. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of applications.
