Your area of focus:

The Junior Accountant is the entry-level role in the department. A Junior Accountant is ready to learn and execute the transactional responsibilities of the department, striving to learn new skills and processes, and supporting the accounting department as a whole.

What drives your day-to-day?

  • Assist Senior Accountants in the full-cycle accounting functions across multiple Collision Centres.
  • Assist Senior Accountant in the preparation of month-end and quarter-end reporting as required.
  • Prepare and process journal entries to ensure proper recording of all business transactions.
  • Assist Senior Accountant with balance sheet cleanup prior to month-end to ensure financial statements are accurate, consistent, and up to date.
  • Prepare and update monthly Accounts Receivable reconciliations, including posting customer deposits to respective accounts receivable invoices.
  • Prepare daily bank reconciliations and cash deposit reports.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable functions, including:
    • Posting and adjusting invoices.
    • Issuing payments to vendors via various methods.
    • Processing employee travel and expense reports.
    • Communicating with vendors to clarify/resolve any invoicing or payment issues.
    • Preparing Accounts Payable reconciliation.
  • Work closely with Collision Centre Managers to address daily deposit reconciliation, accounts payable, and other day-to-day accounting issues.
  • Transfer and reconcile sales, payables, and cash receipts data from management system to accounting software.
  • Work closely with Payroll Specialist and Treasury team to clarify/resolve issues.
  • Ensure insurance billing compliance and collections.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to address issues and review processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures.
  • Contribute to monthly and quarterly projects aligned with the strategic plan.
  • Provide weekly updates of status tracker summarizing duties throughout the month.
  • Complete audit requests for external auditors.
