Our client is seeking a proactive and self-motivated Fixed Asset Accountant to join their dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to contribute to a variety of accounting tasks. This is a temporary opportunity with the intention for permanent hire for the right person.

In this role, you’ll be taking on key responsibilities such as diving into year-end audits and helping to streamline and clean up their Business Central platform. As part of a small, close-knit team, you’ll be expected to wear multiple hats and take ownership of your work, ensuring that processes run smoothly and efficiently.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage Fixed Asset Records: Maintain and update detailed records of all fixed assets, including acquisitions, disposals, transfers, and adjustments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Asset Capitalization and Depreciation: Ensure that new fixed assets are properly capitalized, tracked, and depreciated in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company guidelines.
  • Reconcile Asset Accounts: Perform regular reconciliations of fixed asset accounts to ensure that all assets are accurately recorded, and resolve any discrepancies identified in the process.
  • Assist with Year-End Closing: Support the year-end financial closing process by ensuring that all fixed asset transactions are properly recorded and that all depreciation calculations are accurate.
  • Prepare and Review Depreciation Schedules: Calculate and review monthly, quarterly, and annual depreciation for all fixed assets, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax regulations and company policy.
  • Perform Fixed Asset Audits: Coordinate or conduct periodic fixed asset physical inventories and audits to verify the existence, condition, and location of assets.
  • Coordinate Asset Disposal and Write-Offs: Oversee the disposal process for assets that are no longer in use, including ensuring proper documentation and accounting treatment for asset write-offs or sales.
  • Ensure Compliance with Tax and Regulatory Requirements: Monitor changes in tax laws and accounting regulations related to fixed assets, ensuring that the company remains compliant with all local and international standards.
  • Support Internal and External Audits: Provide necessary documentation and support for internal and external auditors during fixed asset audits.
  • Prepare Financial Reports: Generate reports on the company’s fixed assets, including summaries of additions, disposals, depreciation, and the overall status of fixed asset accounts.
  • Collaborate with Other Departments: Work closely with other departments (e.g., procurement, finance, and IT) to ensure the proper handling of fixed asset acquisitions and disposals.
  • System Implementation and Improvement: Participate in the selection, implementation, and maintenance of fixed asset management software and suggest improvements to streamline fixed asset accounting processes.

Education:

  • Degree in Accounting (or equivalent) is a strong asset
  • Completion or pursuit of CPA is a strong asset

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Fixed Asset Accounting is required
  • Experience in Business Central (Microsoft Dynamics) is required

Base Salary: $35+ per hour based on experience.

Work Hours:

  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday

Remote Work: This position is not remote and required to be on-site.

  • This opportunity does not include relocation. It will be the responsibility of the candidate should relocation be required.
