Community Support Worker
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Community Support Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will provide support and assistance to adults with neurodivergence, intellectual disabilities, and physical challenges. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and a passion for promoting independence and well-being.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support to adults with neurodivergence, cognitive and physical challenges, and/or autism in our Day program
- Develop and implement individualized programs and plans for each client, incorporating activities such as cooking, arts, and recreation
- Work collaboratively with clients and families to ensure seamless support and care
- Demonstrate compassion, understanding, and empathy in all interactions with clients
- Maintain accurate records of client progress, goals, and support plans
- Participate in team meetings
- Develop and maintain relationships with community resources and services to enhance client support
- Perform light daily cleaning tasks to maintain our space
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with adults with neurodivergence, cognitive, and physical challenges
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Confidence in developing and implementing individualized programs and plans
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks, including meal planning and preparation/budgeting
- Experience working with clients with autism is an asset
- Excellent attendance record is required
- Ability to promote the well-being of each client and their independence
Education:
- Diploma or degree in a related field (e.g. social work, disability studies, Human Services)
- Certifications: Drivers License (Required)
- ASIST Training (preferred)
- NVCI Training (preferred)
Current certification in:
- First Aid, CPR (Required)
Work Environment:
- Work will be performed in our Summerside location.
