Position Summary

Northern Health is looking for an experienced, highly efficient, and self-directed Assistant to support the Disability Management department.

The Assistant, Disability Management provides assistance and administrative support to the Disability Management portfolio in Workplace Health and Safety which includes: preparing and maintaining timekeeping records, organizing schedules and booking meeting appointments, performing a variety of secretarial and clerical duties such as word processing, receiving, reviewing and filing of correspondence, preparing invoices for processing, compiling and analyzing data and preparing relevant statistical reports; acts as an information resource and first point of contact for Disability Management by responding to internal and external inquiries or directing inquiries to the appropriate staff member and/or department. The Assistant is also responsible for inputting information from a variety of sources into a computer database and provides maintenance and management of the filing system for all Northern Health confidential employee health records. This role assists the Regional Manager of Disability Management in setting an effective working and learning environment and in recognizing opportunities which ensure consistency, collaboration, and increased efficiency in administrative and program functions.

Starting salary will be approximately from $48,476 to $60,594 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 Diploma, graduation from a recognized secretarial program;
  • Five (5) years recent related experience including experience working with various computer software programs;
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to type 60 wpm.
  • Ability to organize workload and set priorities, as well as demonstrate flexibility in meeting multiple demands and deadlines without supervision.
  • Ability to effectively utilize software programs required for professional-quality reporting, communication, webpage and e-learning development e.g. MS Office Suite, including Word 2007, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, Live Meeting, Captivate, and Publisher.
  • Ability to efficiently gather research data as requested or required using a variety of methods.
  • Basic knowledge of WSBC legislation an asset.
