Urban Indigenous Healthy Living Program Worker – Youth & Adult (18 month contract)

Job Responsibilities

1. Consult with the community to determine healthy lifestyle program needs and interests, specifically with Indigenous youth, adults, and seniors.
2. Develop and manage the program schedule quarterly, reflecting the needs, interests, and available resources of the community, ensuring that mandatory program components are met.
3. Plan, organize, supervise, assess, and facilitate physical fitness and recreation programs, sport activities, healthy eating and weight management programs, youth leadership, and smoking cessation programs appropriate for participant knowledge base and physical capabilities.
4. Maintain and manage program activity records and participant files.
5. Evaluate program effectiveness and identify program enhancements.
6. Regular communication and program coordination with other Friendship Centre programs.
7. Establish and maintain relationships and partnerships with local community sports, fitness, and recreation agencies/organizations.
8. Ongoing program promotion within the community, specifically targeting Indigenous youth, adults, and seniors.
9. Actively seek volunteers to assist with and support program activities.
10. Ensure that all program reports are accurate, complete, and submitted in a timely manner.
11. Ensure that all programs and activities are facilitated to meet health and safety standards, addressing injury prevention.
12. Participate in professional development as directed and required, ensuring certification is kept up-to-date, specifically First Aid/CPR and Injury Prevention.
13. Ensure that programs are available outside of the Friendship Centre's normal hours of operation (Monday to Friday).
14. Regularly report to the assigned Team Lead.
15. Create and maintain community relationships and role model healthy lifestyle behaviors.
