This is an exciting opportunity to work as an Undergraduate Nursing Employee for the Cardiac Sciences Program for placement in CVICU, CCU, Cardiology & Cardiac Surgery Ward, Cardiac Cath Lab and MAZ OR. The Undergraduate Nurse (UNE) is an unregulated member of the inter-professional health care team who provides Patient Centered Care with the supervision of an RN or RPN. The nursing activity performed, and the level of supervision required is determined by legislation, standards of supervision outlined by professional associations, AHS and the competency of the UNE. The UNE will be accountable for providing safe patient care in accordance with her or his educational preparation and competency. The UNE is responsible for seeking consultation and guidance.
An Undergraduate Nursing Employee (UNE) position provides an opportunity for a UNE to develop further competency in the range and complexity of Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) practice. You will be guided by your education, experience and demonstrated skill level to play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Current enrolment in an approved Alberta nursing education program leading to initial entry to practice as a registered nurse or registered psychiatric nurse. Current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (CPR) certificate. Successful completion of 3rd year of an RN nursing education program and a minimum of 600 hours of clinical practice in an approved RN education program; or currently in the final year of an after-degree RN nursing education program and a minimum of 600 hours of clinical practice in an approved RN education program; or successful completion of 2nd year of an RPN nursing education program and a minimum of 600 hours of clinical practice in an approved RPN education program.
Current It's Your Move. Completed third year of theory and clinical placements by the end of April 2024. Available for full time hours and 12-hour shifts (Days and Nights). Strong communication and excellent organizational skills essential. Demonstrated ability to work with a large multi-disciplinary team.
