What will you do?

We are looking for a competent Buyer to join our dynamic team. The Buyer is responsible for effectively managing the inventory of materials required for production, while minimizing costs and maximizing operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Planning for material requirements: Analyze production data, demand forecasts and current stock levels to assess future material requirements.
• Inventory management: Monitor inventory levels according to MRP recommendations and coordinate orders with suppliers to ensure adequate supply while avoiding surpluses and production stoppages.
• Issue purchase requisitions: Send purchase requisitions and communicate required performance indicators to suppliers.
• Follow-ups: Work closely with suppliers to track active requisitions and delays and update the ERP system.
• Forecasting: Submit and update consumption forecasts to help suppliers understand Siemens’ changing needs.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with production, engineering and logistics teams to ensure efficient planning and seamless flow of materials.
• Supplier management: Maintain positive relationships with suppliers, monitor performance and proactively resolve problems.
• Use of computer systems: Use planning software and IT tools to track inventory, generate reports and analyze data.
• Emergency management: Respond to unforeseen events such as late deliveries, material shortages or changes in production plans by quickly adjusting plans and finding alternative solutions.

Please note that the position is located in person at our Drummondville plant.

What will you need to succeed?

• Diploma in logistics, administration, operations management, supply chain management, or related field.
• At least 6 months to 1 year previous professional experience in a planning or purchasing role, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Advanced English and fluency in French spoken and written, to interact with our American suppliers and clients.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to make informed decisions.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Proficiency in IT tools (MS Office).
• Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning software (SAP), an asset.
• Understanding of custom manufacturing processes.
