Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, electrical code specifications and manufacturer’s manual to determine installation requirements and layout of industrial electrical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices, coordinate with vendors as needed.
  • Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, lighting fixtures and other electrical components.
  • Test equipment and components for continuity, current voltage and resistance.
  • Maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Implement the preventive maintenance programs, perform routine maintenance on all equipment and keep maintenance records.
  • Daily inspections, monitoring and maintenance of all equipment.
  • Train other maintenance individuals and operators on the machine.
  • Prepare a troubleshoot guide for the machine.
  • Prepare a work instruction, SOP and other documentation required for the machine.
  • Be flexible in the work hours and shift, to accommodate production while troubleshooting.
  • Open to the improvements that can be done on the machine.
  • Understand the critical inventory parts required.
  • Ensure all parts are entered into the maintenance software system.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment to determine worn out parts before failure and plan to replace, keep records.
  • Perform lock-out and tag out system.
  • Knowledge of Autonomous maintenance and follow up.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement efforts through standardized work to cut cost and improve productivity and quality.

Education / Experience

  • Diploma / Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • 6+ years’ experience in a Windows & Doors industry in a maintenance role.
  • Experience with Windows cutting, Welding, Cleaning machine - Urban, Sturtz, Proline GED or equivalent.
  • IG line experience - Forel, Glaston, GED or equivalent.
  • Tempering furnace troubleshooting experience: Glaston.
  • Arrising line experience: Ashton.
  • Glass cutting machines: Bottero, GED, Bystronic or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Preventative Maintenance, CMMS, Mechanical/Electrical systems and quality control systems within a manufacturing environment.
  • Opportunity for overtime on short notice due to operational needs and occasional travel.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and clean Driver’s Abstract.
  • Knowledge of computer operating systems including Excel, Word.

Working Conditions

  • Physically able to lift between 0 lbs to 50lbs.
  • Work primarily in a production facility. The plant environment can be dusty and noisy.
  • Move around the plant, maneuver product, and gather information.
  • Requires extended periods of sitting and using the telephone.
  • Doors are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changes.
  • Floors in work area may be slippery during wet weather conditions, have cracks and be uneven.
  • Tools, supplies and chemicals may contain hazardous materials and emit unpleasant odors.
