Job Description

The Triage Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring that fraud alerts and claims are accurately assigned for further investigation. This position involves reviewing and prioritizing fraud alerts generated by software, determining which claims require deeper investigation, and assigning them to the appropriate investigative teams. The role demands strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to make quick, informed decisions based on available data.

Responsibilities

Review and Triage:

  • Triage from multiple sources and identify suspicious activity.
  • Assess incoming fraud alerts from automated detection systems both internally and externally.
  • Prioritize claims based on risk and referral source.
  • Monitor for trends/patterns from shops, suppliers, and individuals.
  • Assign claims to the appropriate investigator for further review.
  • Review claims and maintain contact with adjusters for manual referrals – provide feedback in cases when the appropriate threshold for a referral is not met.

Alert Management:

  • Maintain and manage the daily workflow of all referrals.
  • Identify and escalate high-risk or urgent claims for immediate review.
  • Ensure that alert queues are regularly updated and maintained.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with investigation teams, adjusters, business leaders, and analysts to ensure smooth assignments.
  • Participate in ad hoc activities such as training, attending huddles, and working with the analyst.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of triage criteria and workflows.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree.
  • Insurance experience including two different claims disciplines or a previously held OTL/RIBO license.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel including the use of Pivot Tables.
  • Proficient in PowerPoint.
  • Ability to build strong internal relationships with the ability to act as a champion within the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Must value working in a collaborative environment.
  • Must show initiative, good judgement, and resourcefulness.
