Senior Field Technologist (Party Chief)

The Senior Field Technologist will be responsible for conducting cadastral field surveys in various aspects and related office works with high level of accuracy, ensuring the design criteria is adhered to and well documented. We are happy support articling students in this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Supervisor and Firm Principal to develop methods and procedures for conducting field surveys
  • Conduct field surveys and operate the Total Station and computer equipment to measure distance, angles and elevations
  • Record measurements and other information obtained during field survey activities
  • Determine precise geographic locations using global positioning systems (GPS) equipment
  • Prepare detailed drawings, charts and plans and survey notes and reports
  • Supervise and co-ordinate field survey activities.
  • Daily inspection of equipment, ensuring everything is recharged, clean, and in good working order. Forward all damaged equipment to the Firm Principal
  • Communicate all problems, errors, questions and concerns to the Project Supervisor or Firm Principal who will provide the direction to be taken
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety Policies and Regulations as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Rouse Surveyors Inc. Health and Safety Policy
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment and site at all times
  • Familiar and adheres to industry standards
  • Maintain accurate timesheets and job records
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Engineering or min. College level education in Surveying or Geomatics
  • Knowledge and experience of survey practices and standards
  • Flexibility to do legal - cadastral surveying when required.
  • Experience with the operation of robotic total station, GPS, and other survey instrumentation. Familiar with precision requirements in steel work, concrete pours, elevation checks and various redundancy checks
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in surveying
  • Basic knowledge and experience of survey data preparation for field surveys/download and process through instrument office software.
  • Strong Computer skills and the ability to use AutoCAD, Leica Infinity etc.
  • Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills with a high level of dependability.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $28.00-$35.00 per hour
