Job description

Women’s and Children’s Health Program, Trillium Health Partners

Trillium Health Partners’ Women’s and Children’s Health Program is seeking Locum Tenens Paediatricians to join the Division of Children’s Health. Join us in shaping the future of healthcare by being an integral part of Ontario’s first Women’s and Children’s Hospital, which will have an impact on generational health in one of the nation’s most multicultural regions.

THP Women’s & Children’s Program: Trillium Health Partners (THP) serves over one million residents in Mississauga, Peel Region, and West Toronto. By summer 2025, Women’s and Children’s health services will consolidate at Credit Valley Hospital (CVH), supporting 8,500 annual births and a 38-bed Level 2C NICU. This consolidation will support a one patient and provider experience within a comprehensive system of care in advance of the new hospital opening.

At THP, we are building Ontario’s first Women’s and Children’s Hospital—the Shah Family Hospital for Women and Children. This 200,000-square-foot facility will span two floors within the new Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital and will be purpose-built for families to provide a range of specialized services and integrated care. Key features will include 31 birthing suites, 53 postpartum beds, 56 NICU beds, and 36 pediatric beds. Every aspect of care will be designed to prioritize the patient and family experience while ensuring the highest quality of care. The new hospital will also focus on teaching, research, and innovation to promote the well-being of women, children, and equity-deserving groups. THP fosters innovation, partnerships, and research through the Institute for Better Health (IBH) and is the primary teaching hospital for the University of Toronto’s Mississauga Academy of Medicine.

Paediatrics at THP: Join Ontario’s largest community paediatrics program as a full-time Hospitalist Paediatrician, where you’ll be part of a diverse team of generalists and specialist paediatricians delivering exceptional inpatient care. Our program features numerous subspecialty clinics, including diabetes, endocrinology, obesity, rheumatology, neurology, cardiology, asthma, respirology, neonatal follow-up, nephrology, general paediatrics consults, sickle cell disease, and a Paediatric Oncology Group of Ontario satellite clinic. This role offers a unique opportunity for academic scholarship, including teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical learners from the University of Toronto and engaging in research through the Institute for Better Health. There is also an opportunity for a part-time faculty appointment at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto. You will have access to mentorship and opportunities to participate in quality, safety, and practice committees, contributing to ongoing program development and excellence in patient care. Enjoy a dynamic and collaborative environment that fosters professional growth while making a meaningful impact on paediatric care in the community.

Paediatrician Role: Our program offers a comprehensive and well-rounded experience, as our paediatricians provide care across multiple areas, ensuring diverse clinical exposure and professional growth. This includes inpatient paediatrics, the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), jaundice clinic, emergency department follow-up clinic, neonatal consultations, emergency department consultations, and birthing suites. By working in these various settings, our paediatricians play a vital role in delivering seamless, high-quality care to newborns, infants, and children while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams. This diverse scope of practice enhances clinical expertise and provides an engaging and fulfilling career in community-based paediatrics.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate must be proficient in English, hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or approved equivalent, and be licensed in good standing in Ontario or eligible for a license to practice in Ontario, Canada. The applicant will be required to have a Royal College approved Fellowship in Paediatrics and have a fundamental alignment with the vision and philosophy of the THP’s Women’s and Children’s Health Program. Candidates should have experience with all aspects of Children’s Health and be able to provide the full spectrum of General Paediatric care, including NICU, emergency consults, inpatient and ambulatory care. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the Division of Children’s Health on-call schedule.

Trillium Health Partners is an equal-opportunity employer committed to antiracism, diversity, equity, and inclusion. These principles are integrated into all operations, policies, and organizational culture.
