Position: Lead Electrical Engineer

Experience Highlights:
Design power electronics, inverters, DC to AC converters, and control power distribution architecture of SOFC.
Develop preliminary power distribution to individual skids.
Develop electrical panel requirements based on vendor information regarding electrical loads of individual equipment.
Size and select plant UPS and accessories (i.e., bypass switch, batteries, etc.) based on critical loads.
Generate preliminary electrical Bill of Materials (BoM).
Update cable schedules for design changes.
Perform calculations and ensure compliance with Utility grid interconnection requirements.
Ensure compliance with international standards across regions (NFPA, UL, IEEE, CSA).
Possess a high degree of understanding of electrical distribution and power equipment such as cables, busbars, switchgear, variable frequency drives, etc.
Deliver high-quality project and product documentation such as single-line diagrams, load lists, cabinet design, wiring diagrams & layout, component datasheets, grounding design, and lightning protection concepts.
Familiar with equipment for hazardous areas and different types of explosion protection methods.
Interact with suppliers, OEMs, and Panel Builders to define solutions and verify quality.
Develop guidelines for commissioning and service of equipment.
Act as a local guide to junior engineers, ensuring quality of work.
Must-Have Technical Skills:
Strong technical competency in all areas of power distribution (concept architecture design, sizing of components, protection, harmonics, grounding, thermal management, lightning protection & EMC).
Expert knowledge of power distribution equipment (transformers, switchgear, cables, circuit breakers, protection systems, busbar systems, etc.).
Familiarity with electrical CAD and electrical calculation software (WSCAD, EPLAN or similar).
Electrical design for hazardous areas according to US & CA standards.
Knowledge of North American standards (NFPA, NEC, CSA) & UL panel certification.
Knowledge of IEC standards is a plus (61439, IEC 60204, IEC 60076, IEC 62271).
Extremely proactive, curious, technically-savvy, rigorous, and a team player.
Requisites:
Senior Electrical Engineer experienced in the North American market.
Academical: Electrical Engineer.
Background: At least 6 years of experience handling electrical design activities focused on Low Voltage design and drafting for the North American market.
Skills and Competencies:
- Electrical components calculation, selection, and integration: Protections, Motor Starters, Variable Frequency Drives, Switches, LV transformers, etc.
- Conductors' calculation and sizing and wiring diagrams.
- Panels design and construction for North America (UL stamped).
- Experience with standards UL508, UL508A, NFPA79, NFPA 70, CSA equivalencies and other standards for North America.
- Experience with international electrical design standards IEC and IEEE.
- Proficiency in at least one electrical design software like ePlan P8, WSCAD, SEE Electrical, E3.Series, Electra E8, etc.
- Experience with projects for Hazard Locations, especially in North America.
- Basic understanding and interpretation of P&IDs.
- Basic knowledge in MV distribution systems.
- Proficiency in basic office software: Excel, Word, and PPT.
- Good communication skills in English.
- Proactive individual who takes ownership of assigned duties.
- Experience in international engineering teams.
