The Senior Finance Manager is responsible for accurate financial reporting, managing budgeting processes, and providing strategic financial insights to support organizational goals. Additionally, the Senior Finance Manager leads a dedicated team, ensures compliance with funding requirements, and optimizes financial performance within the not-for-profit sector.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Oversee accounting operations including accounts payable, purchasing, billing, online registration, and accounts receivable.
2. Provide training, leadership, and guidance to members of the finance team.
3. Ensure financial recording accuracy and compliance with the Canadian Tax Act, as well as other federal and provincial regulations.
4. Remain current and knowledgeable on issues and regulations pertaining to the charitable and non-profit sector that may have a direct impact upon financial resources and planning of the organization. Monitor legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to financial reporting and operations, and ensure compliance.
5. Assist with building out operational budgets and forecasting processes.
6. Prepare documentation for audit purposes and produce audit working papers.
7. Support month-end and year-end close processes.
8. Oversee account coding and data entry.
9. Prepare monthly reporting package for review including the Statement of Revenues and Expenditures, Balance sheet, Cashflow, and Notes to the Financial Statements.
10. In cooperation with the Directors of Operation and regional staff, prepare external reporting for specific projects, contracts, grants, and funding proposals.
11. Regularly review, update, and maintain the organization's documentation of internal controls, financial policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, best practices, and organizational needs.
12. Identify and resolve discrepancies, monitor key account balances, and provide insights to support financial decision-making.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting or business.
2. Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
3. A minimum of five (5+) years of progressive financial management experience, including leadership roles.
4. Proven track record in managing financial operations in a not-for-profit or similarly complex organizational environment.
5. Experience with budget development, financial forecasting, and strategic planning.
6. Advanced knowledge of financial reporting standards (e.g., IFRS, ASPE, or relevant standards for not-for-profits).
7. Experience with full-cycle accounting, financial analysis, and audit preparation.
8. Proficiency in using and implementing accounting systems such as Sage300, QuickBooks, or other ERP systems.

Hours: 35 hours per week: Monday to Friday, daytime hours

Rate of Pay: $90,000-$95,000 salary per year, benefits and RRSP
