The Atlantic Salmon Federation (ASF) is a world-leading science and advocacy organization dedicated to conserving and restoring wild Atlantic salmon. Headquartered in New Brunswick, Canada, ASF oversees a network of six state and provincial councils, and 103 affiliated groups. Altogether they represent more than 25,000 members and volunteers. ASF conducts research on wild salmon throughout the North Atlantic, performs complex river restoration projects, and advocates for good environmental decisions. Internationally, ASF negotiates conservation agreements with commercial fishermen in places like Greenland and the Faroe Islands. ASF is also represented at prominent forums like the North Atlantic Salmon Conservation Organization and the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea.

On behalf of our client, we are currently recruiting for an Executive Director of Development to join their team of dedicated professionals. Reporting to the President, the Executive Director of Development serves as part of the management team. This position is responsible for membership development, supporting donor relations, and fundraising for general operating, specific projects, and the endowment fund. A key responsibility is the forging of new relationships and the cultivation of existing relationships to maintain and build credibility, visibility, impact, and financial resources.

The Executive Director of Development has primary responsibility for supporting the President and Philanthropy team in the establishment and implementation of the infrastructure needed to meet ASF's annual budget through the solicitation of gifts, memberships, bequests, annual giving, special events, corporate, and foundation support. The Executive Director of Development works closely with ASF Team members to gather and produce project updates, sharing results with supporters to ensure donor relations are maintained and supporters are updated on the use of funds.

As the ideal candidate, you possess proven ability to develop and maintain strong relationships and deliver donor-centric solutions. You are effective at building formal and informal relationship networks inside and outside organizations. Able to communicate effectively and clearly, you can relate openly and comfortably with diverse groups of people. You demonstrate organizational awareness and have a collaborative work style, recognizing the value that different perspectives and cultures bring to an organization. Strong organizational skills will be key to success in this role. You take on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm. With exceptional interpersonal skills, you are a creative thinker and team player who is able to adapt to changing environments. Competency in Excel, Word, and Teams is essential, and experience with Raisers Edge is preferred. A university undergraduate or master's degree in a related field of study and five years of fundraising experience is required. CFRE certification is preferred.
