Job description

This role as a Chef de Partie at Avery Healthcare's Bagshot Gardens Care Home offers an opportunity to join a supportive and caring team, providing high-quality culinary services to residents. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to deliver nutritious and delicious meals while ensuring cost-effective stock control and menu development.

Main duties of the job

As a Chef de Partie, your primary focus will be to support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in leading a culinary team that provides a nutritionally balanced, comprehensive, and high-quality culinary service, contributing to the overall wellbeing of the residents. You will be responsible for preparing nutritional food and beverages to a high standard, participating in meetings to discuss catering functions and address special needs or dietary requirements, and working with the leadership team to develop and review the menu on a regular basis. Additionally, you will assist in implementing cost-effective stock control systems to minimize waste.

Shift Details: 6:00 am - 2:00 pm, 11:00 am - 7:00 pm

Key Responsibilities:

  • Taking part in meetings with residents and Heads of Departments to discuss and agree catering functions across the home, and to address special needs or dietary requirements of residents.
  • Preparing nutritional food and beverages to a high standard, as directed by the Head Chef.
  • Supporting cost-effective stock control systems to minimize waste and ensure these are in place.
  • Working with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to develop and review the menu on a regular basis.

Our ideal candidate must:

  • Hold a catering qualification such as City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ or equivalent.
  • Hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Have a minimum of 1-year catering experience.
  • Demonstrate compassion and commitment to the delivery of high-quality culinary services to residents.
  • Be adaptive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.

Please note this role will require:

  • A DBS Disclosure check, the cost of which will be met by Avery Healthcare.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
